Our new home...

Port Elizabeth (aka ‘PE’, the ‘friendly city’ or the ‘windy city’) has become our new home away from home.

Pete found a great house for us which has stunning uninterrupted views of the port and beachfront. It is a townhouse within a secure complex, yet unlike Joburg there is no security manning the gate. The house is on 3 levels. Entry is on the middle level to the large open plan living, dining, sitting and kitchen area. The three bedrooms and a couple of bathrooms are on the top level. The bottom level comprises another living area and luxurious spa style bathroom opening onto decking, a small courtyard and pool.

The house is a stone’s throw away from Pete’s work (the port). With most rooms offering views of the port, Jen will be able to keep a close eye on Pete!

Christmas Holiday Part 2- Franschhoek & Oudtshoorn

After 4 lovely days in Knysna , we said goodbye to the Garden Route and welcomed the Winelands in the Cape. Lunch in the Robertson Wine Valley at Bon Cap could not have been better timed with a very niggly Harrison desperate for a feed & stretch. An antipasto platter and bottle of wine was brought to us as we sat under a vine covered veranda loving the caress of the gentle breeze and warmth of the midday sun. Ahhh ... in case we didn't already, we now definitely felt as though we were on holidays! The drive from Robertson to Franschhoek takes you along route 45 over the spectacular Franschhoek Pass. The view of Franschhoek from the top of the pass is picturesque- such a cute secluded valley filled with a patchwork of vines and cape Dutch buildings. We lodged at Cabriere Cottage for 4 nights which is located in the heart of Franschhoek - ideal for exploring the endless shops on foot and travelling to the surrounding wineries (or wine farms as the South African's wo...

Breaking News- "Chandler selected to represent EP "

Pete has been selected to compete for the Eastern Cape Team at the upcoming South African triathlon championships- Go Pete!! Whilst Pete performed admirably in the pre-selection a week ago, he by no means participated to gain selection in the team. As it was, it was the first time that he had raced an olympic distance triathlon. One of his fellow Eastern Cape team mates in the 25-29 age group is James Cunnama, a professional triathlete who came 2nd in the Ironman Austria. Pete's not feeling the pressure at all to perform for the team! Tonight he came home from work and went for a long run immediately. He is still undecided whether we will make the trip to Germiston (in Gauteng) for the South African championships however is some what shocked that he has been selected for the team.

Ahhhh..... Spa Day!

Spa Day always brings a smile & sense of excitement to the wives that partake in the day. Today was Spa Day (or should I say guilty day...). Once a month 8 of us take a 40min road trip to Kievits Kroon , a Cape Dutch country estate and spa, where we are pampered, preened and groomed. Our clothes and shoes are banished upon arrival and replaced with a luscious white bath robe and matching slippers. Today we had a body scrub, some sun time and relaxation by the pool, buffet lunch accompanied with wine & fresh juice, some time in the swiss shower and jacuzzi and then finished with a 1 hr full body massage. All of this for around AUD 60! Note- there are some benefits for the husbands from this monthly activity. To reduce the guilt levels a delicious meal is always on the table upon their return home from work! :)
